Learning Japanese to watch(& enjoy) Anime without Subtitles during COVID Pandemic

Remember the time when you were a Lil kid. Come back home all excited from school, throw the bag on the sofa and start watching Cartoon Network.

Soon I realized that the world of anime was incredibly amazing.

Naruto, Beyblade, Blue dragon, Death Note, Attack on Titan, My hero academia, Seven deadly sins, Tokyo Ghoul, Code Geass, One Piece… the list goes on.💕

But now watching anime with subtitles hinders the amazing pleasureful experience.

I know learning Japanese to watch anime without subtitles sounds crazy.
But if it only takes 10 mins of time per day.

Why Not?

Japan is also one of my travel destinations, this might come in handy then. I know it’s not gonna be so easy. Japanese is one of the hardest languages to learn but there are resources if only you can find, you can learn it fast.

Here are some hacks I found that can help you
learn Japanese much faster.

Duolingo is the Best Free app that can, not only help you learn Japanese faster but can also make learning loads of fun.

And also a bit competitive, which is most essential for learning anything.

All it takes is 5 mins of fun per day.

Hiragana: Tofugu’s Ultimate guide for learning Hiragana

Hiragana is one of the three independent writing systems of the Japanese language.

Like most Chinese girls look the same, most of the Japanese words sound the same, So it’s important to know the proper pronunciation of words & Syllables.

The traditional way may take some days to learn, but this mnemonic based resource helped me learn it within 15 mins. Feel free to make your own tweaks.

Not all words are created Equal :

With only about 100 words under your belt, you can understand about 50% of all Japanese you hear or read. They are the most used 100 words.

By learning the most used 1000 words, you can understand about 70%, while 10,000 words equal about 92%.

This resource by Caitlin Sacasas published in fluent in 3months website is a good place to start.

I haven’t learned all these words but going through them really made me feel that I can understand something while watching anime if I can learn these.

It’s just been 4 days, I started learning Japanese. I have no clue how it will turn out, but it was fun so far. Expect more tricks in the coming days. & Join me, the pandemic is a bit booring for an all-day Netflix.😅
