I have a problem.

I get lost in my thoughts & overthinking makes it forever for me to make a decision and start taking action.

Why do we have to talk about it now ?

I got a few ideas in the fall of 2019 and I thought instead of taking a job, I should work on them and see how it will turn out. It’s a good thing to explore stuff before settling.

Now, It’s been some months and I am feeling super guilty for procrastinating to take action on them for no reason.

Yesterday night, I said “I am done feeling guilty”.

So, I woke up early , early today at 6 am. Thought “No more wasting of time from now on”. Turned the laptop on.

And started thinking…

    • What should I do now ?
    • I got three pending projects, which one needs my immediate attention?
    • Will they work or do they make me look like a crazy guy?
    • Can I do it? Ok fine.
    • What should I do now?
    • What’s the plan ? Did I make any plan before? Ok, Leave it.
    • I think I should consume more info on the topics. What are the topics? Do I have to?
    • Is there an easy way around?
    • What the fuck am I doing now?

I look at the time & it’s 7 am now and I wasted an hour, without knowing how.

Productivity = useful output/ time taken

It’s been an hour and I have done nothing useful. I’m feeling guilty now.

Fuck! Did I just wake up early to feel more guilty?

Ok, wait! But why did I waste time or should I ask how did I waste my time?

Instead of deciding the project and executing the baby steps I need to take, I kept staring at my laptop thinking & weighing which one’s the priority & doing not so important tasks.

When I realized this, I thought “Jeez, this is it, This is something I should write about.”.

But more importantly, I should solve this problem I have. Else there is no point in waking up early.

Thinking loops can make it forever when you want to pull some good crazy stuff, especially when there is no deadline and a sense of urgency.

Two possible solutions to Avoid thinking loops & start taking action.

1. The Five Second Rule

Decide fast , write down what you want to get done this morning and take action in 5 seconds & avoid thinking loops”.

Use The 5 seconds rule! Best explained in this 3 minute Book summary video.

2. Plan the Day the Night Before

Avoid the damn scenario of making the decision in the morning. How can you do it ?

It’s simple, sit down at night & plan out what needs to get done tomorrow morning. Instead of thinking for hours, we could just get right into the action.

I know it’s easier said than done, Gotta Try!.

These two possible solutions helped me before, now I guess I should use them again.

If you spend more time thinking than actually taking action, I believe they will come in handy to you.

Xoxo,
Vignan.

PS : I seriously don’t wanna waste my time from tomorrow.😅

Hey! Do you have any suggestions in your brain, I would love to hear from you.
